Mamelani launches its Health Champions Programme

In our honour of Mandela Day 2011, Mamelani has looked at how we can better serve the communities we reach through our own programmes.

Today we launch our HEALTH CHAMPIONS PROGRAMME. This programme is a first of its kind in Mamelani. Sixteen committed women have been selected from our Health Programme to participate in the programme. The programme officially starts next week, and will work with this committed group for the next 6 months. The aim of the programme is to honour those who are already doing incredible work in their own communities to improve the health of those around them, to offer them a space for reflection on their work, to connect them to other women, and to build on the strengths of what they are doing - so that together, we can have a deeper and more effective and collaborative impact on the communities in which we work.

Our youth programme is also looking at ways of having a deeper impact on the communities where the young people in our programme are living.

The young men in our programme have initiated a COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME where they will be assisting a local creche.

Mamelani committed this year to looking outwards and inwards for Madiba Day.

It is essential that we build those both within the organistion, as well as those we serve. For this reason, the Inspirational Breathwork Foundation will be offering our staff 67 minutes of stress releasing breathwork process today. Onsite Training will also be offering 67 minutes of computer training to the youth in our programme.

We firmly believe that in MAKING EVERY DAY a MANDELA DAY. We want to take this opportunity to wish Madiba a very happy 93rd birthday - and to thank him for inspiring us every day to take action to help change the world for the better!
