Mamelani mourns the loss of Alizwa, one of the participant's in our foster care programme. Alizwa passed away on Tuesday the 6th of September from Meningitis. She would have had her 19th birthday next month.
When Mamelani met Alizwa 18 months ago, she was not in school and was struggling to get her life on track. She was eager to be part of the Foster Care Programme, and participated in all the activities. She was back in school at the BEST centre, where she was doing well. She was developing her singing talents - she sang like an angel and had even started learning to play the guitar. She was an energetic, confident young women who will be sorely missed by her family, friends and schoolmates.
The Mamelani team sends condolences to her family at this difficult time. The funeral will be this coming Saturday September 17th.
