I was 3 months pregnant when I was diagnosed HIV positive
I met the facilitator at Mowbray Maternity, when I was coming for my check ups. I chose to breastfeed my baby. My baby was tested at 6 weeks and she tested HIV negative. The test was done again at 3 months and my baby tested negative again. Thorough all this time, with the breastfeeding and other stresses I had times of panicking and confusion and at times I wanted to give up. I would call Thandi even if it's the middle of the night. She was always there for me. She encouraged me too much and because of her I can still face the world and I know that there is life. She is like a mom for my baby and I. She is putting that hope for people to live a better life to know there is still life because sometime you really need support and she was always there for me. I am so thankful that my baby is HIV negative.
