The Child and Family Support Programme continues to provide therapeutic and social work services to children and families from Zerilda Park Primary and the surrounding community. The social worker continues to offer support to the school and teachers in supporting learners.
Counselling sessions have been offered in the last quarter to learners and their caregivers. The most common issues faced were family issues, including divorce, with some cases dealing with drugs and trauma. Many cases of learners with behavioural problems have been referred to NICRO and this partnership has assisted with supporting their specialized needs.
Susanne, the Mamelani social worker has been able to connect with the social worker from the Department of Education and this will improve the ability to respond to the school's needs.
Mamelani partnered with Earthchild Project to run an exciting holiday programme. Children were able to do yoga, play games, make art, find treasure in the treasure hunt and have their faces painted.
